Dear industry colleagues

Executive Workshop on Excellence in Ports & Terminals Operations, February 13-14 2017 Singapore

About the Course

This two days training program is focused on preparing Port Operations and Port Marketing teams to deliver world class performance in all areas of Port Operations. Achieving measurable excellence in Port Operations is the key to acquire Customer Delight and thereby reach the objective of sustained viability of port business. Adequate infrastructure, identified on-shore and off-shore equipment, trained manpower to perform operations in the port and systems and processes to execute the work; all need to be ready prior to commencement of operations in the port.

In case of all the Ports throughout the world, Port infrastructure is created and Equipments are installed at a substantial investment. Fixed and mobile assets of the Port are created after a careful evaluation of the market demands, competition analysis and based on feasibility study. Full utilization of these assets can only be realised when the operating teams can reach a level of excellence in performance while operating those assets. Similar to manufacturing industry, even in port industry there are different perception levels between operation and marketing department in dealing with customer expectations. This course will endeavour to reach methods of cohesive functioning of all departments of the port particularly Port operations and marketing to attain the common objective of customer delight.

Learning Objectives of this program are:

  1. Identify, understand and classify customers for Port facilities and services
  2. Evaluate expectations of different customers from Port facilities and service
  3. Analyse complete capability of Port’s infrastructure and equipment and achievable operating parameters.
  4. Prepare service levels which can be consistently achieved and delivered to customers
  5. Define Standard Operating Procedures for every type of envisaged operation in the port taking into consideration – OHSAS
  6. Establish a review mechanism to measure effectiveness of Excellence in Port Operations.
