Will the Chinese attack the Vietnamese-owned but foreign run oil rigs that made PetroVietnam USD 30 billion yearly as retaliation?

If the analysts never tell you about the crisis in Ukraine and Crimea; then no one can read the mind of the Chinese communists.

If the intervention in Ukraine and Syria never come, can the south east Asians hope for something better for South China seas?

Oil is 30% of Vietnamese GDP! Everything the Chinese collected from 981 oil rig adds to the Chinese energy security.

The Chinese minister visit illustrated Chinese commitment to peace; provided the sovereignty remains in their hands.

If they fought the Americans in 50s; helped vietcong in 60s; did skirmishes with Vietnam in 79 & 88 – WHO could reassure us that another conflict will not break out.

Vietnam is the only viable competitor in the south China seas – one that took 29 islets and reefs claimed by the Chinese.

We must be mentally prepared for further escalations.
